I used to look forward to the holidays, but now I wish I could sneak past them

Without your dazzling smile and dances, I know it will never be the same

Truly it will settle in that you’re not coming home

Winter

by  Josue Ortiz

Winter is near when the birds are flying south
and the sky is grey

Oh my dears close your eyes and lift your nose.
Listen with your careful ears.
Feel the winter coming on.
Hear it in the trees.
Listen to the loud winds
Blowing on the leaves.

Isn’t the same

by

Natalia Gordon

The snow drifted from the sky

Smiles brighten

With the lights on the tree

Patterned paper covered the floor

As the fire cracks in the back

Laughter flies through the air

Like Santa's sleigh

Years

Ago

Music still plays

People still give and sing carols

But the spirit

Isn't the same

Like

Years

Ago
