She teaches physical education, health and coaches the Newark Tech girls’ soccer team.  She became a teacher to be an impact on many students’ lives. Ms.Correa-Barreto grew up with people who made a significant, positive difference in her life and wanted to pay it forward. She views her job as having great importance in all student's lives.   Ms. Correa- Barreto said, “I have a chance to teach and inspire students through sports, to seek a healthy life in the physical, mental, and social aspects.”  For Ms.Correa, it is important to see students participating, having a good time, interacting, and allowing themselves to learn about and enjoy physical activity.  If you are good at any sport, always try to find a way to improve and try different sports.

Her favorite moment last year was when Ms. Morales and Mr. Williams announced her name as Newark Tech’s Physical Education and Health Teacher. In her free time, Ms.Correa likes to do calligraphy, take care of her plants, and play sports. She is currently trying a new sport called pickleball. She is interested in positively impacting people's lives and learning how to improve her skills, “If you are a beginner at any sport, give yourself a chance to learn.” Ms. Correa says making mistakes helps a person to improve and get better and maybe fall in love with sports".
