Social Justice
There's this false notion that you have to separate and choose between issues of class and issues of race. What people do when they say that you need to separate class from race is that they are really just saying that people of color should come second.
When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something.
I don't think most of Congress understands how economics works.
" If you're differently-abled, if you're a person of color, if you express your identity in a way that's different from the norm, for whatever reason, there's an implicit bias where people, frankly, sometimes take you less seriously."
Social Justice-by Amber Burroughs
Social Justice has involved many nationalities and lives over the past three years. The idea of making all people accountable for their speech, actions and jobs is a current trend. How does the emphasis on social justice impact student lives. The country is aware of how adults are impacted by social change; but what about high school and college age students. What do they see? What do they hear? How are their daily lives impacted as they commute to school, travel around college campuses or watch newscast?
Statistically on a planet of 7.9 billion people it is hard to believe that anyone can keep track of so many lives. Every day in the United States children and adults go missing with no traceable evidence. For decades the victim’s skin tone determined whether their case would be overlooked or taken seriously. Unfortunately, many missing and unsolved cases involve black women and children. According to human rights careers .com
“justice is the concept of fairness. Social justice is fairness as it manifests in society. That includes fairness in healthcare, employment, housing, and more. Discrimination and social justice are not compatible... Social justice depends on four essential goals: human rights, access, participation, and equity. Social justice can’t be achieved without these four principles.”
As we remember Lauren Smith-Fields and Brenda Rawls we see a pattern of neglect regarding investigations of these women. The injustice occurs when measured against the national attention that was given to Gabby Petito’s case.

Once my mom told me ¨in your 20's you are young and adventurous.¨ Trying new things and doing things you never thought of for the sake of figuring out yourself
. Lauren Smither-Fields(23 yr. old) had made an account for an app called ¨Bumble¨. According to Bumble, it was founded to challenge the anticipated rules of dating. Now, Bumble empowers users to connect with confidence whether dating, networking, or meeting friends online.¨
Apps like these(Christian Mingle, Tinder, Eharmony) are known for matching lifelong couples together but also for their not so good matches. These apps tend to be the gateway for things such as meaningless killings, date rape, human sextrafficiking. But due to the popularity of those apps bad things get overlooked and people still use them with no fear of danger.
Unfortunately, once Lauren was reported dead her family was not informed of this tragedy. Lauren Smith-Fields was ruled an “accident” and the case was closed. It wasn't until January when the case started to catch some steam and people started to focus on this mysterious death. Thousands of people started to call out the Bridgeport, Connecticut police department for their lack of compassion in this case. In addition, the family of Lauren is second guessing the opinions of the detective and coroner.
Not informing the victims family of her death was against police policy but also unethical. This same detective failed to notify Brenda Rawls (53 year old Black woman) family of her death on that same day. Once again, we see the justice system neglecting women of color and their families on a daily basis.
